The “Rose” Wilts- Brandeis to sell its collection

Brandeis University will close its Rose Art Museum selling off its 6,000 pieces collection in the process. The decision comes from a unanimous vote of the college’s trustees in response to financial woes. Works by Roy Lichtenstein, Andy Warhol, and Nam June Paik are among those to be sold.
While it is common for museums to occasionally sell pieces, selling an entire collection, especially one as valuable and unique as this, is unprecedented.

Founded in 1961 The Rose quickly developed a reputation for collecting contemporary, particularly American art well before its value was recognized by New York’s Met or Boston’s MFA.

The Rose is set to close in later summer. I urge everyone to see this unique collection before it is dispersed.
