Gallagher displayed on Newbury

Boston College professor of fine arts Sheila Gallagher experimental work is currently displayed with the wood sculpture of Darren Foote at the Judi Rotenberg Gallery.

The exhibit is titled Astra Castra, Latin for “the stars my camp”, meant to, “evoke that timelessness of that which remains.” Gallagher’s use of smoke paintings and found objects support her reputation for making art with experimental mediums. facingbackastracastra1

Smoke paintings are created by burning various candles and “smoke emitters” below a suspended canvas.

An opening reception will be held Thursday, February 12th from 6-8pm at the Judi Rotenberg Gallery, 130 Newbury St., Boston. This is a great opportunity for the Boston College community to see the work of one of their professors. The exhibit will run through March 1st.
