Valerie Hellstein ’99 speaks on Mystical Modernism at Symposium

Upcoming Symposium: Early American Modernism and Religion

As a complement to the Herman Trunk: Catholic Modernist exhibition at Emmanuel College, there will be a panel discussion on Early American Modernism and Religion to explore more broadly the role of religion in the artistic practice in America during the 1920s and 30s. Distinguished scholars in the field, including Valerie, will participate.

Date: Saturday, October 3rd

Location: Emmanuel College, 400 The Fenway, Boston, MA

The Symposium will run from 10 am to 4 pm.

2 pm:  “Laying the Groundwork: Mystical Modernism in the 1930s” by Valerie Hellstein, Ph.D. candidate, Stony Brook University, (BC art history major, ‘99)
