Betsi Graves ’04, Dance Alumna and Top Choreographer

Betsi Graves Akerstien ’04 is no stranger here at BC Arts Insider. She is often featured as an alumni artist who serves as a notable leader in Boston’s performing arts scene. Her dance troupe, Urbanity Dance, is an active and trail-blazing non-profit group that proves time and again that dancing is exciting. Betsi is also active on the Boston College scene. After graduating in 2004, she has appeared at several Career Night for the Arts events to speak to students interested in careers in the performing arts.

On Thursday, April 28th, Betsi will return once more to her alma mater to perform at the 13th annual Boston College Arts Festival. From 2:30 – 3:00 in the O’Neill Plaza tent, Urbanity Dance will be one of the featured artists along with dance faculty Sun Ho Kim, Margot Parsons, and Robert VerEecke, S.J.

To top it all off, Betsi Graves was recently honored to be chosen as one of ten female choreographers for the 3rd Annual Women in Dance Series at the Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, NY. Betsi will perform “Carry On” at the series in December 2011.
